Naming Your Boat

Naming your boat is a serious undertaking that might involve weeks or months of debate. Some say it is harder to do than naming your first child. Others tell us that they had their boat name in their hip pocket for years before the time arose.

During our travels and our research on the “Lake Life”, we have compiled this list of almost 70 boat names that caught our eye. Perhaps one or two of these strike a chord with you and, if so, then job well done and anchors away.

Important Stipulation:

These are all fun names but there is a reason why your boat name really matters. There is a strong motive to remain at least somewhat practical. In an emergency, you’ll need to effectively relay your boat’s name to the Coast Guard or local law enforcement. You don’t want any miscommunication. Names with one or two syllables that roll off the tongue are typically the safest. Toy Boat Toy Boat Toy Boat might be amusing, but you assume some added risk in the case of an emergency. Be creative but careful and practical.
